Pastoral Land unit
The Pastoral Lands Board is supported by the Pastoral Land unit of the Department of Regional Development and Lands. The unit is located with State Lands at Midland and is responsible for advising the Minister for Lands and Department Executive, supporting the Board and administering the State's pastoral leases under the direction of the Board.
The Pastoral Land unit has four key outcomes:
Outcome 1: Land administration mechanisms that facilitate economic viability and ecological sustainability of pastoral leases

Facilitate diversification opportunities through relevant legislation

Effective management of lease and pastoral land transactions

Support of the Pastoral Lands Board

Facilitate whole-of-government and industry participation
Outcome 2: Pastoral lessees that meet established standards

Raising awareness of the legal obligations of pastoral lessees

Ensuring compliance with legal obligations

Appropriate use of pastoral leases that is consistent with current recommended practice
Outome 3: Pastoralism that fosters social, cultural and economic benefits for regional people

Support whole-of-government approaches to Aboriginal pastoral development

Integration of land administration and capacity building activities

Facilitate and coordinate whole-of-government approaches to regional development in the rangelands
Outcome 4: Pastoral industry challenges are readily identified and addressed
